The increase in Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is one of the key concern the world is facing presently. These emissions warm the planet by capturing solar energy and reducing the rate at which it escapes into space, eventually leading to climate change. The waste sector contributes to around 4% of the total emissions. The emissions from domestic wastewater management account for around 55% of the waste sector emissions. The research focuses on the development of an action plan for the mitigation of GHG emissions from domestic wastewater management for the case city of Vadodara, Gujarat. The objectives include assessing the current sewage disposal practices in the city, estimating the GHG emission from the domestic wastewater management, then analyzing and identifying the potential interventions for the mitigation of the emissions, and finally proposing an implementation plan for the same.
