Migration often leads to informal settlements lacking essential infrastructure like water, sanitation, and roads. Surat, Gujarat, aims to provide equitable access to basic facilities, yet some areas remain underserved. This study focuses on ensuring safe water and sanitation in Surat's slums. Beginning with understanding slum dynamics, it reviews global practices. A toolkit is developed to assess vulnerable slums, identifying Prem Nagar Darga for intervention. An action plan is formulated, drawing on stakeholder input and national policies. Using mixed research methods, outputs include a slum atlas and action plan. The study calls for reflection among academics and policymakers, offering scalable solutions for resilient infrastructure development.
