The increasing waste due to rapid urbanization has led to an increased demand for landfill areas across cities. which is then remediated over the years at a high cost. A circular economy approach, emphasizing the 3R waste management strategy, aims to minimize landfilling by reducing, reusing, and recycling waste. However, cities like Varanasi face complex waste management issues due to high population density and tourist influx. This study assesses the impact of waste minimization, recycling, and technological advancements on Varanasi's waste management. It offers localized recommendations to optimize the solid waste service chain, reduce landfill dependency, and enhance processing efficiency.
