This Directed Research Project investigates the gaps and opportunities in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) infrastructure for migrant workers in Surat’s prominent industries -construction, textile, and diamond industries. It combines field observations, stakeholder interviews, and policy analysis to assess conditions at both workplaces and accommodations. The study identifies challenges in service access, maintenance, and monitoring, and proposes inclusive, scalable solutions such as shared infrastructure models, decentralized systems, and improved regulatory compliance. Supported by UNICEF, the project offers actionable strategies for local authorities and industries to ensure safe, dignified, and sustainable WASH services for migrant communities.
