Green budgeting emerges as a crucial tool in advancing circularity within urban environments. The research endeavors to realign the current city budget with circularity and sustainability principles, enabling Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to embrace circularity in their service provision, particularly emphasizing solid waste management. By orienting budget allocations towards green initiatives, cities can effectively transition towards more sustainable and circular practices, ensuring efficient resource utilization and waste management while minimizing environmental impact. This strategic approach not only enhances the resilience of urban ecosystems but also promotes economic prosperity and social well-being within cities.
