India is ranked as the 13th most water-stressed country in the world by the WRI's baseline water stress index. One of the ways in which cities in India can improve their water management to reduce the extreme stress is by including Water Sensitive Urban Development (WSUD) into their planning framework. Lucknow is used as a case study to examine the feasibility of WSUD because existing water management practices and the policy and acts to regulate the same in Lucknow are not efficient.
