The depletion of tanks and frequent floods in Bangalore, India, are the results of the complex relationship between public and private actors, particularly among business groups. The governance of tanks in Bangalore has been influenced by a variety of factors, including the role of the government, the involvement of private companies in infrastructure development, and the influence of business groups in shaping policies and decision-making processes. This study aims to understand the roles and functions of these stakeholders and their contributions to the current state of tanks, and to explore a desirable framework that can effectively maintain the integrity of the ecosystem and support the economic growth of the IT-real estate industry. The governance of tanks in Bangalore has been influenced by a variety of factors, including the role of the government, the involvement of private companies in infrastructure development, and the influence of business groups in shaping policies and decision-making processes. To gain a comprehensive understanding of these factors, A range of tools such as mapping, interviews, litigation studies, and policy analysis will be employed to provide a comprehensive insight into the multifaceted nature of the relationship. This study emphasizes the need for a collaborative effort among public and private actors to address the current state of tanks in Bangalore. It highlights the complex relationships between business and tank governance, which require attention to achieve sustainable development.
