Traditionally urban planning focused on greenfield development, but now it acknowledges the importance of brownfield redevelopment. This approach promotes compact cities by optimizing land use through the regeneration of existing areas, including upgrading buildings, developing public infrastructure, and integrating transit. Ahmedabad, like Mumbai, has legal frameworks for redevelopment, but ensuring its sustainability and equity remains a challenge. This research investigates the implementation of Ahmedabad's Transit Oriented Zones  since its inception in 2013, evaluating their progress and impact to inform the upcoming Development Plan revision. It examines existing and potential redevelopment trends in Ahmedabad and identifies pathways for ensuring equitable urban redevelopment that benefits all residents of East Ahmedabad while harnessing the opportunities that TOZ presents.
