The study investigates brownfield redevelopment as an imperative approach for expanding Indian cities. Mumbai's successful redevelopment is attributed to its limited land supply and well-defined policies which have evolved over the years by addressing the concerns and responding to the market. In Ahmedabad, there is still scope for greenfield development, thus it has not yet taken advantage of the incentives for transit-oriented development. The analysis of Mumbai's market dynamics through micro level study based on planning and feasibility factors can help Ahmedabad design proactive policies and market-driven incentives for future redevelopment.
