This research examines the transition of building bye-laws in Ahmedabad and their impact on built form and urban morphology, focusing on changes from DCR 1987 to CGDCR 2017. Using comparative analysis across selected sites, the study assesses how evolving regulations—such as FSI, height, setbacks, and land use—have influenced urban form. Findings reveal a shift from low-rise, dispersed development to denser, vertical structures due to liberalized norms. Through spatial analysis and stakeholder input, the research offers insights for planners, highlighting how regulatory shifts shape the city and where further refinement can support balanced urban growth.
