The Special Investment Region (SIR) initiative under the Gujarat SIR Act, 2009, aimed to boost industrial growth along the DMIC. Santalpur SIR, notified in 2010, remains non-operational. This study evaluates the relevance of its existing boundary using the Industrial Development Suitability Analysis (IDSA) framework. A 55×55 km area is assessed through GIS-based spatial modeling and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis. The study proposes a revised boundary based on development suitability and presents a flexible IDSA framework that can be adapted for assessing and redefining boundaries of various industrial zones across Gujarat and beyond.
