Addressing the effects for climate change is becoming more and more difficult for Chennai the capital of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is especially prone to the effects of rising sea levels stronger tropical cyclones and more unpredictable precipitation patterns because it's a coastal city. Numerous issues such as more frequent and severe flooding events intense heatwaves and possible shortages of water are being brought on by these climate related hazards. Chennai's carbon emissions is also a major worry because the city produces a lot of methane and other greenhouse gases every year from waste, transportation and energy. Chennai recognized the issues and in 2023 released its first Climate Action Plan (CAP) which outlined ways to fight climate change. However, the preservation of the environment has rarely been given top priority in previous the city's growth strategies with real estate development frequently taking precedence over water conservation and other important environmental factors. The initiative intends to bridge the divide among climate action planning and its effective integration into the city's development strategies as Chennai gets ready to unveil a Third Master Plan (2046). The aim is to guarantee which the goals of the plan are translated to concrete actions on the ground by emphasizing on the climate-sensitive waste strategies from climate action plans and integrating them into the Third Master Plan. This will eventually result within an eventual future for Chennai which is sustainable livable and economically dynamic. The purpose of this study is to examine how Chennai's Third Master Plan incorporates the Solid Waste Sector Strategies of the Climate Action Plan.
