This Directed Research Project focuses on the blue components of a Blue-Green Infrastructure Plan for Patan, Gujarat. It aims to address critical water-related challenges such as declining groundwater levels, the degradation of surface water bodies, and excessive groundwater extraction driven by unplanned urban expansion. The research proposes a range of blue infrastructure techniques to enhance groundwater recharge and restore water security. These include the installation of recharge wells, rejuvenation of traditional stepwells, construction of percolation pits, and implementation of rainwater harvesting systems. By concentrating solely on the blue network, the study underscores its essential role in creating a sustainable and climate-resilient urban future for Patan.
