High-density cities, like Mumbai, are experiencing urban heat island effect that leads to higher air and surface temperatures. In 2023, 27 million people will be affected by climate change in Mumbai (IPCC, 6th assessment report). The need to understand the relationship between the built environment and its effect on microclimate and thermal comfort is key to implementing designs that are climate sensitive. Thus, the study aims to investigate the thermal comfort on streets by analyzing perceived pedestrian thermal comfort and simulation using ENVI met. The final output of the research arrives at policy-level recommendations to improve thermal comfort on streets.
