Climate change is primarily a water crisis" (United Nations, 2023). Water stress is unfortunately a common dilemma experienced globally. This paper examines the urban governance structure of lakes in Bengaluru, with a focus on the specific case of Puttenahalli. The study aims to propose a path forward for integrating ecological entities, such as urban commons like lakes, into the city's existing planning processes, to harmonize urban development with environmental sustainability. The article highlights the need for lake conservation, the adverse effects of the privatisation of lakes, and the importance of environmentally sensitive planning.
