The research aims to develop a conceptual framework in the core heritage areas of Jaipur in order to propose urban design strategies for implementing a low-emission zone in the city to improve its air quality. The study focuses on analyzing the air quality and different sources of air pollution in Jaipur. It further identifies factors like mobility patterns, accessibility to public transport and on-street and off-street parking spaces that add to traffic congestion and air pollution in the city. The study concludes by analyzing the issues with current design of the walled city and proposing conceptual urban design strategies to improve air quality by regulating vehicular movement and creating a more walkable environment in the walled city.
