Urban vacant lands play a crucial role in the dynamic fabric of cities, hosting diverse activities throughout the week and evolving differently on weekends. In western Ahmedabad, the greenbelt itself offers ample vacant lands with accessibility, encouraging people to engage in activities. In past few years there is significant reduction in open grounds seen in the western Ahmedabad. The access to the public lands are getting restricted. Due to this people have to travel longer distance to play cricket. My research captures the informal cricket culture prevalent in scattered, expansive areas such as Shastrinagar, Pragati nagar, Navrangpura, Vastrapur and Manekbaug, and compares it to the more formalized and structured phenomena of box cricket and privately owned ground observed in locations like Sindhu Bhavan, Shilaj, South Bopal, and similar areas beyond S.G. Highway in Western Ahmedabad.
