This Directed Research Project (DRP) focuses on developing a methodology to make an asset management and financing plan for bus stop infrastructure. The study looked at case examples for bus stop types, their maintenance and monitoring contracts and asset allocation from eleven cities. The research deep-dives into bus-stop audit data cross Lucknow. The data captured their locations, and their condition of shelter, seating, lighting, and universal access. The study also compared the bus stops with MoHUA guidelines to identify gaps. Based on classification strategies the bus stops across the Lucknow cities were categorized into three types based on their infrastructure requirements: those requiring new construction, those requiring upgrades, and those requiring additional assets. The research envisioned three standardised design templates for bus-stops and calculated the required numbers under each design categories bases on three scenarios. This was done on factors such as bus routes, ridership data, activity centers, and land use. The study also calculated CAPEX and OPEX for each type of bus stop and assessed their revenue generation potential to capture the financial viability of the plan. The study provided a novel methodology to plan and finance bus stop maintenance and monitoring plans.
