The research delves into the challenges hindering women's participation in India's public transport sector, examining various organizational levels and job opportunities. It reviews existing policies, schemes, and regulations aimed at promoting women's employment and workplace safety, analyzing their implementation across different agencies. Surveys and focus group discussions with city transport agencies provide insights into key issues and potential interventions to empower more women in the sector. Through a case study approach, the research investigates initiatives taken by transit agencies to address female participation and associated barriers.
