India has over 468 cities with populations exceeding 100,000, yet only 83 of them have city bus services. With the introduction of the PM e-bus Sewa, 100 additional cities will likely benefit from the addition of electric buses. This initiative focuses on expanding bus network in existing and new cities, aiming to enhance urban connectivity, reduce congestion, and support sustainable urban transport where public transit options have been limited. For over a century, researchers have studied methods to design efficient and effective transportation networks. This is commonly referred to in the industry as the Transit Network Optimization Problem, a complex challenge that seeks to optimize across numerous objectives within a vast solution space. Non-linear problems like this have seen success with the Genetic Algorithm approach. In this research, we use genetic algorithm  to develop an optimized transit network for a case city.
