This study explores the feasibility of transitioning employee transportation in India to electric buses, with a focus on private operations in Ahmedabad. Despite government targets and environmental benefits, adoption remains low due to high capital costs, short contract durations, and a lack of supportive infrastructure and financing. The research combines stakeholder consultations, operational assessments, and a Total Cost of Ownership analysis to identify key barriers and viable solutions. It proposes strategic interventions across policy, financial, infrastructure, and manufacturing pillars to enable scalable electrification. The study highlights the need for structured support to de-risk investments and accelerate private e-bus adoption.
