The design aims to create a place for the act of prayer at the Kocharab Gandhi ashram in Ahmedabad. As the function was perceived as a journey towards the truth, and that truth that is found within oneself, the space was conceived in an introverted manner while considering both the individuals and the community groups that would arrive at the site in search of the self. Architectural elements including jharokha, vestibule, toran, and the idea of forecourts accentuate the architectural character of the design along with keeping the design as a whole subtle and light both visually and physically.
