Institute of Disaster Management , Sihor

Located on a plateau in the centre of Sihor and the valley that surrounds it, this project responds to a town uniquely vulnerable to natural calamities. The design was conceived of as a large, single mass imposed on the plateau facing the town so that in the event of a disaster, the people of Sihor don't look to the temples atop the horseshoe valley peaks for help and support but instead this institute and their symbol of hope. This monumentality was achieved by exploring the drainage of water and stone as the structure and as the director of form and movement.
