The Suspended Outpost: A Biocontainment Laboratory

The duality of apocalypse—destruction and revelation—remains central to the project, which is a biocontainment lab and seed bank. The Louis Catherine barge and drydock are the locations of the intervention. Destruction: Since the barge is in preparation for an apocalypse or doomsday, I wanted it to convey that feeling of confusion and bewilderment when one looks at it, as one would feel if an apocalypse were to occur. To achieve this, the labs are suspended from a structure anchored on the drydock, making it seem like the labs are floating in a web of tension cables. Revelation: The program in itself is an embodiment of the word revelation, where the scientific experiments conducted will reveal hidden truths about human society, systems, or the self.
