The Wall Museum project aims to symbolize the tension between separation and unity created by the Berlin Wall. Designed as an immersive space, the museum uses parallel blade walls to represent division, while a central tubular mass serves as a metaphor for the tunnels that united East and West Berlin. The walls gradually diminish in length as visitors move toward the Holocaust Memorial, symbolizing the diminishing power of division. The service core at the front of the site represents the opacity and secrecy of the Wall itself. The museum’s design invites reflection on the impact of the Berlin Wall on individual identity and the broader human experience, emphasizing how history’s painful divisions can be bridged through unity and shared memory. Ultimately, the project fosters an emotional journey, guiding visitors from oppression to liberation, illustrating the power of human connection in overcoming political and ideological barriers.
