Blurring the Boundaries_ Architect's Residence

The site is located on the bank of Ullal beach, Mangalore. This city falls under the hot and humid climate type with a low diurnal temperature range. The adverse humidity conditions make the city uncomfortable. This can be tackled by providing natural ventilation. Considering this, Architect's house and studio are built on the concept of integrating semi-open spaces on the east and west peripheries (windward sides). These function as thermal buffer zones and protect the interiors from sun and rain. The functions are zoned as served and service spaces in a linear form that responds well to the climate of Mangalore.
