The project brief was to design a residence for a family of six in Jodhpur. The husband and wife are writers who have two children - a fourteen year old daughter and a sixteen year old son. The requirements also include an extra bedroom for their grandparents who frequently visit them. The project aims to develop a performance-oriented modern design that encompasses climate responsive strategies to tackle the extremely hot climate of Jodhpur. A cool courtyard and cavity walls is the primary strategy implemented while terrace gardens, curved walls and double heights are some of the secondary strategies.
