Adi Ganga

The project considers Adi ganga of south Kolkata as its premise. This is a paleochannel of the Ganga River. Despite the fact that it is now a tiny, dirty canal, the ganga is nevertheless revered as a holy river and holds a special place in the city’s sacred memory. The ganga is connected with many things and places by different individuals, not merely for religious reasons. Many people’s livelihood also revolves around this ganga. The project looks at understanding these association of people with ganga with current day usage, conditions and tries to strengthen, modify and little adapt these connections according to the current day conditions which could help ganga remain in its stability for a longer time.
