Revitalization of Kumartuli park

Kumartuli Park, a culturally significant public space at the heart of Abhay Mitra Lane, is poised for revitalization to address its current challenges while preserving its historic character. This project aims to upgrade the park’s amenities and transform its rigid boundary into an interactive, welcoming interface with the surrounding street, fostering stronger connections with the community. Key interventions include enhancing the facades of the Kumartuli Institute and nearby structures to align with the area’s architectural heritage, redesigning the swimming club and indoor play area to integrate functionality with conservation, and introducing sustainable, climate-responsive solutions. The boundary redesign will prioritize reversible, temporary elements, ensuring adaptability during major festivities like Durga Puja. By balancing cultural sensitivity, modern functionality, and sustainability, the revitalized Kumartuli Park will support daily community activities and major events, strengthening its role as a vibrant hub of public and cultural life.
