Weaving the Past into the Present

This project focuses on revitalizing Kolkata’s historic ghats, including Champatala Ghat, a Grade 1 heritage site. The intervention aims to restore architectural elements, remove encroachments, and enhance functionality by integrating modern infrastructure like pedestrian pathways, cycle tracks, and sanitation facilities. A heritage walk and ferry loop will reconnect locals and visitors to the riverfront's rich history. Emphasizing sustainable conservation, the project balances historical integrity with community needs, creating inclusive, vibrant spaces for cultural engagement, recreation, and tourism. By "weaving the past into the future," the ghats will be preserved as vital landmarks in Kolkata's urban and cultural fabric.
