Can craft contribute to shaping the identity of “Make in India” ?
Imagine a world in the year 2025, where the government has become undisputed monarch of authority, creating a centralized environment. The initiation of the “Make in India” movement proposed as part of an election manifesto, where the government mandates the use of made in India products only by citizens and other products are deemed illegal. Due to various fake brands selling their products under the tag of “Made in India” to maximize profits, the market faces difficulties in distinguishing between fake and authentic brands. People will be faced with the dilemma of numerous options in the market and may fail to identify authenticity. In response to this situation, the Government has collaborated with local craft practitioners, establishing various stores similar to IKEA for India where relevant authentic Indian products are available, aiming to promote “Make in India”.Ahmedabad haat has become new destination for ICEA (Indian Craft Enterprise Association) for Indian people to get all the authentic products. So the haat has become new leading Indian bazaar, overshadowing the mall culture in the future.
