Highway Rest stop

The highway rest stop is located in Leh, Ladakh. In response to the cold and dry climate there, the project focuses on the delight experienced by the user in thermal transition, hence providing a variety of thermal spaces. The spatial experience is kept in mind through following different schemas such as contrast, rhythm and gradient. It utilises some pre-existing climate responsive strategies such as thermal massing, solar gain, earth sheltering etc., as well as innovations like a water wall as trombe wall.
