Decoding the "capturing" of Lucknow's Baghs

This studio closely examines the archives to locate the lacunas in it, and further to bring the archive to the people. Module 1a deconstructs the intentional reappropriation of Lucknow's Baghs by the colonizers as they saw them as spaces harboring revolt during 1857. Module 1b has been an exercise in examining the structure of St.Mungo's church as an archive of itself by decoding its anomalies and structural decay. Module 2 rigorously dismantled Beato's photograph of Sikandar Bagh through a critical postcolonial lens to make it a public project that reverses the colonial gaze by exposing its morbidity and gruesomeness.
