Of Land, Institutions and the Elite: A Palimpsest

The semester comprised of three interconnected modules. The first module engaged with archival evidence on Lucknow city to create its palimpsestic map and foregrounded the identity politics of talukdars through educational institutions in Lucknow. The second investigated ruins as material archive of itself wherein the attempt was to simulate the built environment of Bibiyapur Kothi as a Nawabi building typology. The third module focused on creating content for curation on the historical space and time of Lucknow city wherein it explored the concept of a Conflictorium as a space for discourse on subversive identity histories of Lucknow talukdars.
