This palimpsestic map is an attempt to bring out the British disregard, detest, and destruction of the Muslim community and religious spaces of Lucknow in order to suppress the socio-cultural spirit of the Muslims in the city, who were a significant part of the Nawab court and went on to play a vigorous role in the revolt against the British in 1857. The History of Dilkusha kothi is looked at in comparison to its European prototype, Seaton Delaval Hall to discuss the architectural character of the Kothi which is relevant to the context of Lucknow rather than mere imitation.
