Customised luxury housing

What are the other ways of thinking about providing luxury housing today? Can luxury in housing be defined as the ability to choose the unit configuration to suit the needs and imaginations of the inhabitants or the consumers? This project develops a framework by which it is possible for home buyers to choose and aggregae a set of rooms to put together a desired unit. This can be done by ways of creating an online platform or an apply through which buyers can try various configurations. The challenge with such an approach is to then develop a system of construction, services, and circulation, that can accomodate the various units developed by the buyers. To tackle this challenge, a system of sandwiched floors is designed such that all the services can run between the floors, like a robust office building, which allows for flexibility in providing services no matter what the configuration of the unit is. The slab spaces that are left over after placing the units act as community spaces on each floor. Since the site also has possibilites of views to the river, the over all form is modulated to provide views from various parts of the buildings. This way, the idea of luxury is not just limited to provision of amenities and features, but also in the ability to choose configuration of houses that correspond to ones ways of life and living, apart and together.
