The main entrance gate to any built structure stands as a crucial contact point to the inside - outside, but as time changes and the building renders old, rendered not inhabited as in the former years of its construction the nature of this front opening draws a very different picture. This character change prompts the concern of conserving and whether doing so will be beneficial in the present. The project is an attempt to understand the design value of such a threshold by looking through different lenses of the case study of Darbargadh main entry gate, its chowk, and the second gate. Hence assessing an old built structure in its original design intent and relevance today.
