Between the Known and the Unknown : A Public Library

A library’s purpose as a repository of knowledge creates a juxtaposition between permanence - storing information - and the evolving, incomplete nature of learning, where the pursuit of knowledge is never fully resolved. A library is a space that embraces the tension between what is known and what remains to be discovered. As a place of potential, it becomes a metaphor for intellectual journeys that are never fully realised but always in progress.
The library is inherently fragmented, through tension and unfinished geometries at every scale. The unfinished nature invites users to explore, question, and engage with the unknown, fostering a sense of curiosity and open-ended inquiry. The library encourages a dialogue between silence and light, where silence represents the inherent potential and serenity, while light is the medium through which this potential is realised.
