The project brief for a public library near the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad envisions the building as a civic symbol, embodying power and identity. Its public character is emphasized through key design features: a recessed boundary wall creating a pause point, a high plinth, a grand staircase, an open ground, and a public plaza serving as a forecourt. The concept of "Fragments in Architecture" explores the duality of infinite continuity and disintegration, evoking a sense of incompleteness. This idea is realized through a composition of individual frustums, each representing a fragment of the whole, contributing to a dynamic, unfinished narrative.
