Set within the rapidly urbanizing fabric of Gandhinagar, this housing proposal responds to the critical loss of peri-urban farmlands, rising food miles, and the fragmentation of community life. The project envisions a nature-integrated residential development where urban farming is embedded as a core spatial and ecological strategy. By interweaving productive landscapes—such as rooftop gardens, vertical farms, stepped terraces, and community courtyards—into the architectural and open space framework, the design creates a hierarchy of green spaces that serve both social and functional needs. The built environment supports food self-sufficiency, composting systems, and seasonal engagement, fostering a resilient, human-centric living model. Far from being a speculative vision, the proposal offers a grounded, replicable framework for sustainable urban growth that reconnects people with food, land, and each other.
