This project analyses the perceptual and bodily experience in the Yamunambal Chatram in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The Chatrams are pilgrim guest houses built between the 16th to 18th century by Maratha kings in South India during their reign. This project unpacks the major aspects of the Chatram's tectonics, construction, and materiality, and understands the ways in which it affects the experience of being in the sixteenth century building.
