The role of the government and NGOs is to be mentioned in terms of homeless shelters. There were frequent visits by the officers, and maintenance of these shelters was always to the point. But there is always an overflow of users at these homeless shelters, which shows the need for more such shelters in Ahmedabad, and thus, the need for more locations. This is where my proposal comes into play, where the metro infrastructure is there throughout the city, the space already exists (thus no need for converting the land use), it’s closer to most of the Nakas, accessible to the city-level infrastructures, and there is scope for further growth. Therefore, this proposal can be a plugin that can be fitted in-between the span of two pillars of the metro bridge, irrespective of the location, throughout the city. This can also be implemented in other cities where there is a space crunch and a need for homeless shelters.
