Migrant construction workers, who build comfortable homes for others, often live in dark, poorly ventilated units with extreme heat, noise, and no communal spaces. Narrow streets hinder movement and social interaction. This stark contrast highlights the need for long-term labour colonies that prioritize environmental comfort. By focusing on thermal comfort, ventilation, acoustics, indoor air quality, and shared spaces, stakeholders can create healthier, more dignified environments—recognizing workers’ vital contributions and affirming their right to quality living and community well-being.
