Transforming Labour Colony : Laws, Users & Stakeholders

The Madhuban Kadamb Labour Colony, located in the Sarkhej area, served as the site for analyzing the existing ecosystem of migrant worker housing. Using participatory tools, I engaged with both users and stakeholders to understand their daily challenges and compared these real-world conditions with existing labour laws. This process led to a clear design intent aimed at bridging the gap between policy and practice. The final proposal offers a cost-effective, comfortable, and easily implementable housing solution. Using reusable materials, it enables quick construction and ensures long-term durability. The design benefits both workers and stakeholders, delivering social, economic and environmental value.
