SPECIFICITY OF PLACE - PARAS NAGAR

In an increasingly dense and urbanized world, how can we design spaces that foster meaningful interactions and strengthen community ties? My work identifies the challenge of creating vibrant, interconnected neighborhoods within a dense city fabric, focusing on spaces promoting both collective and individual experiences. By integrating urban services, dynamic public spaces, and intimate shared areas, I believe it possible to demonstrate how densification can go hand in hand with enhancing interactions and a sense of belonging. However, doubling the neighborhood’s population (up to 20,000 people) brings challenges similar to large-scale residential developments. How to respect the Genius Loci, create bonds among residents, and open the project in the city. These shortcomings undermine social cohesion, which is essential to building a strong community and maintaining a high quality of life.
