ENHANCING THE SPATIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE MEANDERS

The site for the project is along the banks of the Vishwamitri river, adjacent to Sayaji Baug in Vadodara. The design process attempted to create an engagement with the river; and generates ideas for this seventeen-acre site based on the specific conditions of the Vishwamitri and the larger system it is a part of.
The design intervention, though physically appreciable, is intended to be non-intrusive in its nature.
The proposal describes a place to observe the unique ecological character of Vishwamitri that is seasonal & highly sinuous. The river meanders create unique spatial experiences & ecological niches, that would be highlighted by creating vantage points and by manipulating sightlines & accessibility to create complementing journeys across the site that lead up to these vantage points.
