VATIKA:Botanical garden for conservation of Rare species

Botanical garden has dual mission of Conservation as well as education. Its aim is to provide firsthand knowledge about the local, rare, endangered, endemic, exotic and the medicinal plants, their habitats, therapeutic values, cultivation, etc. for effective conservation for future. It plays an important role in education of the public through dissemination of information concerning plants.“The garden is an ever changing museum of living plants." (Almond, 1993).This intervention aims to revive the diminishing flora from the city and around the Vadodara city, which plays an important aspect. The objective is to bring back those species to the city and bring to notice their importance in maintaining the environmental cycle. The design will focus on the conservation of rare species and plantation of Native species according to their characteristics and also the site condition favorable for their growth.
