Forest Park

Native plants are the foundation of our natural ecosystems and protect biodiversity. They are what make a region unique. The plants are being lost at an alarming rate due to urbanization for e.g. ecologically productive land is being replaced with lawns and ornamental plant species. The most important thing is to conserve native plant communities as a whole ecosystem, to promote growing and learning of these species to create sensitivity towards the environment. The government of Gujarat has taken a step towards conserving these species through programs like ‘van mohatsav’.
With the growing awareness in the citizens of Ahmedabad towards these plant communities 16 families that own an eight acre plot propose to design a forest park for the citizens of the city to create sensitivity towards conservation of the plant species. The park would host various activities such as nature photography, bird watching, nature walk and cycling giving them an opportunity to intervene with nature. This park will promote learning of the plant species as well as create sensitivity towards nature.
