Quintessence

The client has a family of 6, including two grandparents, and two children, aged three and eight. The adjacent plot belongs to his brother, not residing in Ahmedabad currently, but visits regularly with his family. The brief includes landscaping both plots, of which the brother’s plot will have a residence built possibly after ten years. 

QUINTESSENCE: "A refined essence or extract of a substance"
The landscape designed for the client absorbs the essence of the designed temporary landscape (on the brother's plot), to exist independently as a memory of the latter when it is lost as a house is built later.

The design is approached on three major lines: 1. Prologue: Similar to the prologue of a book, the brother's vacant plot plays the role of setting the scene for the site, continuing in this role until some point in the future where the site with the house has to exist independently. This is when the prologue loses its importance just as the prologue of a book is forgotten once we get engrossed in the story. 2.
