The Hastkala Kendra, located near Prerna School in Vadnagar, draws inspiration from the compact pol settlements, characterized by shared walls, courtyards, and communal spaces. Designed to integrate with its surroundings, the Kendra balances private learning areas (classrooms/workshops) with public spaces, such as grey zones for informal gatherings, craft exhibitions, and training sessions. The program includes vocational training in carpentry, cane work, mechanics, tailoring, and more, alongside a multipurpose room for soft skills development like communication and teamwork. The design blurs the lines between built and open spaces, fostering a seamless connection between learning, community, and tradition.
